Mark McGowan’s Next Target: Pollution

Artist Mark McGowan is at it again. He’s known for:

– Rolling a peanut from London’s Goldsmiths College to 10 Downing Street using only his nose to protest student debt.
– Strapping a 27lb turkey to his head and walking backwards for eleven miles while yelling at overweight people (to highlight obesity).
– In a protest against people who take pebbles home from the beach, he planned to do cartwheels from Brighton to London (57 miles) with two 12 lb. rocks tied to his ankles. McGowan collapsed after 4 days.
– Leaving a water tap running for one year to bring attention to how much water people waste. The project was abandoned after he was threatened by legal action.

McGowan now plans to leave a car running for a year to highlight air pollution! As you can imagine, environmentalists and city officials are lining up to voice their opposition.

Is this art? Let us know what you think.

We’ll be back with a new podcast soon.

Art a GoGo on Tour in Glasgow, Scotland

The trip to London and Glasgow was a blast, but it’s great to be home. It was a crazy week. Kathleen and I both went back to work on Tuesday, then I drove up to SF to attend the podcast meet-up on Wednesday night. I had a chance to meet and talk to C.C. Chapman, Ron Bloom, and Chris McIntyre from PodShow…great meeting and a lot of fun talking to other Bay Area podcasters!

On Saturday, Kathleen and I drove back up to SF to meet some friends for dinner who were visiting from Reno. Whew!…I could really use a vacation!

Art a GoGo on Tour in London! Day Three

Day number three in London. We decided to take it easy today, so no podcast. We toured the The Queens Gallery and Buckingham Palace (very touristy, but definitely worth seeing). The current exhibit at The Queens Gallery is “Enchanting the Eye: Dutch Paintings of the Golden Age.” After that, we jumped on The Tube and spent some time walking around Piccadilly Circus. For you KINKS fans, we stopped and had beverage near Waterloo Bridge and walked across the bridge to watch a Waterloo Sunset.

A couple of things that you must “mind” when visiting London
– “Mind the Gap” – Warning to watch your step when exiting a train on The Tube
– “Mind Your Feet” – Sign on various stairwells on The Tube
– “Mind Your Head” – Sign in restaurant stairwell
– “Mind That Child” – Sign on an ice cream truck
