Art and Schizophrenia

Mental illness link to art and sex (from the Guardian)
“A survey comparing mental health and the number of sexual partners among the general population, artists and schizophrenics found that artists are more likely to share key behavioural traits with schizophrenics, and that they have on average twice as many sexual partners as the rest of the population.”

– Does art drive you to madness or does madness drive you to art?

– Things are crazy-busy, so no podcast this week. We’ll be back next week with podcast #18. We’re going to visit the Lost Art Salon in San Francisco and talk to one of the co-founders, Rob Delamater.

– I wanted to thank Tony for his thoughtful feedback and criticism about podcast #17. I’ll admit that I may have been bit overzealous in my opinion that prisoners should not have the privilege of creating art. I stand by my opinion that the “Son of Sam” law should be applied in all cases. Any money made by convicted criminals from art should be offered to the victims or given to the state.

– Winter is here! Okay, this is California so we won’t get much sympathy complaining about the weather. Two weeks ago it was 85 degrees in Santa Cruz. Today, we had a low of 35 degrees with an expected high of 59 degrees. The sun is shining, so it’s all good.
